I am so blessed to be in the ministry for my Lord and to be serving here at Hope makes the blessing of the ministry even sweeter. I started attending Hope in 1976 as a teenager and the Pastor at that time was Wilbur Hurt. I didn’t understand the impact his ministry would have on my life until I was much older. On Sunday morning, December 9, 1984, I was under conviction as our Pastor George Monday was preaching. During the invitation that morning, I went forward and asked the Lord to save me, and my wife was saved that morning as well. On May 17, 1986 my wife and I were married and we just celebrated our 25thAnniversary! How blessed I am to have a wife that loves me and loves the Lord! God called me to preach on December 27, 1992 and I was licensed by the church. I consider this the second greatest event in my life after my salvation. On July 6, 1998 our current Pastor, Dr. Jerry Hillenburg asked me to take a full-time position as his Associate Pastor here at Hope. This was a big decision because up to this point I had worked as an electrician. After much prayer and consultation with my wife, I surrendered to full time ministry and it has been such a blessing to see God work. The Lord brought another huge blessing into our lives with the birth of our daughter, Miranda Joy Penny on December 22, 2007. She has been such a special blessing in so many ways that words can’t adequately describe. Our family’s desire is to serve here at Hope until the Lord takes us home via death, the rapture or until he opens the door and moves us somewhere else.
